The poet and the preacher

Jaaps Foto Blog this little rhyme about a poet and a preacher.

Echo's

Quand il est venu,
Comme un enfant inconnu,
Nu...
Mon crédule coeur
N'a point de ce dieu trompeur
Peur...
Depuis ce jour-là
Ce feu caché me brula
Là...

The sea

The sea is always on my mind. I had a little talk with her yesterday in Renesse. With greetings from a mutual friend. As always she tried to seduce me.
I want to share two lines from a poem too personal to publish:

I go on playing, the water round my feet,
In my head always the sound of water.

After I die, I want my ashes to be united with her.

Wiel

Wiel

De diepte van het vlakke meer
Waar tranen, weemoed en verdriet
Verborgen scherven van weleer
Het licht verstrooid, ik zie het niet

Gevangen in een voorzichtig woord
Bevroren tijd, de pijn en strijd
Niets weet ik, een schaduw ongehoord
Die mij naar jou toe leidt

Wat is het dat mij verlangen doet
Naar ‘t moment ongeschonden stil
Naar het licht dat ik vermoed
Achter ogen waarin ik verdrinken wil?

Wiel

The depth of this smooth pond
Where tears, sadness and sorrow
Hidden splinters of old beyond
The light dispersed, I don’t know

Caught in a careful word
Frozen time, the struggle and pain
Nothing I know, a shadow unheard
Leading me to you again

What makes me long
To the silent moment, the begin
The light that I suspect so strong
Beyond eyes I want to drown in?

Basho in Leiden

This beautiful haiku of Basho is part of a poetry project in the well known university city of Leiden. I think the calligraphy is absolutely beautiful.
